Two police officers were treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital Monday night after their patrol car was involved in a collision with two other cars in Oxford.
The incident, which happened just after 10.30pm in Littlehay Road, Cowley, near its junction with Cornwallis Road, also involved a Fiat Punto and a Rover.
Firefighters from Abingdon and The Slade were called to the scene and helped release the driver of the Fiat using cutting equipment. He was also taken to hospital, but neither he, nor the police officers were seriously injured. The road was closed for three hours until the damaged cars were removed.
A police spokesman said today that it was not thought the officers were responding to an emergency call.
