Ian Atkins, United's suspended manager, cannot have his cake and eat it - owner Firoz Kassam saw to that.
Mr Kassam made it clear that he could not preside over the U's drive for promotion and then head west to Bristol Rovers next season. Hence the suspension.
But Atkins cannot lose. If the team goes up, the plaudits will come his way and not to caretaker boss Graham Rix. However, if they miss the boat, then Rix will get the blame.
Perhaps on this occasion no cake is the better option.
