Studley Wood, who came so close to winning the Shaw & Co Oxfordshire Foursomes League title last year, earned a battling draw at Ellesborough in the first match of their new Section 1 campaign.
Austin Siggers and Simon Bulman won for Studley, with Andy Sutton and Steve Jenkins securing a half, after their other pair lost heavily.
Newly-promoted North Oxford began life in Section 2 with a 2-1 win at home to Brailes, following convincing victories for the pairings of Shaun Smith and Ian Booth, and Paul Barrow and Martyn Booth.
Magnolia Park recorded a whitewash win at home to Kirtlington in Section 3, led by a 6 & 5 success for Rob Purvey and Mark Stokes.
Shrivenham Park marked their return to the league with a 2-1 victory in Section 4 at home to Witney Lakes, none of whose players had previously played the course.
