Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Didcot Town have snapped up AFC Wallingford's highly-rated striker Stuart Beavon.

Beavon, who scored 34 goals last season, is one of three players signed from last season's Seagrave Haulage Premier Division runners-up.

He will be joined at the Loop Meadow Stadium by midfielders Bradley Ward and James McKinney.

Didcot's new boss, Stuart Peace, who took over from Peter Foley at the helm, has retained the service of skipper Andy Cooper, Ian Concannon, the Hellenic League's leading scorer for each of the past three seasons, Jamie Heapy, Grant Goodall, Lee Fuller and Jeff Simmonds.

And Peace is also hopeful that there's more good news to come.

"There's still one or two new players that I hope to get here, and there's a couple of last year's squad who have indicated they are staying with us, but are yet to actually put pen to paper," Peace said.

"With Glyn Jones also returning to Didcot, and the three quality signings from AFC Wallingford, I'm pleased with how things are beginning to take shape."

Town have already lost the services of former Oxford United players Mike Ford and Paul Powell to Brackley, plus their talented ex-Swansea City youngster Jack King.

Defender Paul Bedwell and ex-Oxford City midfielder Nigel Emsden have joined Wantage Town.

Didcot start their build-up to the new season when they entertain Dr Martens League Division 1 West side Thame United on Tuesday, July 20.

They conclude their friendlies programme when they host Dr Martens Southern League Premier Division side Banbury United on Saturday, August 7.
