Melissa Hawtin cruised to a double victory as City of Oxford finished second in the second round of the Milton Keynes Junior League at Temple Cowley on Saturday.

Hawtin won the 11-year-old breaststroke by six seconds, before taking the 50m freestyle.

Sam van de Schootbrugge was also in good form with victories in the 11-year-old 50m backstroke, the 12-year-old 50m breaststroke and second place in the 11-year-old breaststroke.

Simon Ward won the 12-year-old 50m backstoke, was second in the 11-year-old 50m freestyle and took third in the 11-year-old 50m butterfly.

The duo then combined with Ben Royal and Dan Bowen to win both the 11-year-old medley and freestyle relays.

In the 12-year-old category, Laura Ralph won the 50m freestyle and was second in the 50m breaststroke.

In the nine-year-old age group Josh Royal won the 25m freestyle, while Sean Kim finished second in the 25m breaststroke and butterfly.

City of Oxford's Amy Chivers won the 50m freestyle, with a personal best at the Timbmet Open meeting at Radley.

She was also second in the 100m individual medley, taking third in the 50m freestyle and fourth in the 50m breaststroke in 12-year-old category.

Alex Jenkinson struck gold in the 50m free and won silver in the 100m individual medley.

He was third in the 50m breaststroke and backstroke and fourth in the butterfly.

Golds were also won by 11-year-old Anna Canlan-Shaw in 50m breaststroke, 12-year-old Thalia Ilsen-Nunn in 50m freestyle and 13-year-olds Laura Sherwood and Hannah Davies in the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.

Ten-year-old Leanne Brooks was in brilliant form, striking silver in the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley.

Her 15-year-old sister Charlotte struck silver in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.

WITNEY were fifth in the second round Division 1 gala at Maidenhead.

Annelise Whiteley won the swimmer of the match award with excellent displays in the girls' 11 and under backstroke and breaststroke.
