SIR -- What a beautiful city Oxford is, 'olde-worlde' buildings, a seat of learning!

For nine years, I have travelled on the National coach between Leicester and Portsmouth, during which we have a 40-minute break at Gloucester Green bus station.

Lovely cafe, with fresh sandwiches and tea and coffee at reasonable prices. Then you go to the toilet! Big mistake.

They closed the toilets in the underground car park and opened a grotty portable building with blocked toilets and locks that didn't work, while it took them two years to build new toilets.

You needed a sniffer dog to find the portable building, as it was hidden behind the tourist information office (now moved) on the other side of the bus station.

On Saturday, July 3, the toilets were in their usual grimy state, with black instead of cream floors.

This time, you couldn't wash your hands, as there was no water for the hand basins.

The toilets were also blocked because of the low water pressure. I rang Oxford City Council on Monday, July 5, and was told "it was in hand".

Guess what! I returned on Wednesday evening, and things were even worse. Every one of the locals said they had complained about these toilets, to no avail.

People come to this bus station from all over the world. Heaven knows what an impression of Oxford this is giving them.

What are you going to do about it, Oxford City Council?
