Chefs are gearing up to test their skills in a Ready Steady Cook-type competition organised by Cherwell District Council.
The contest will take place at the Banbury campus of Oxford and Cherwell College on Monday, August 23.
Each chef will be allowed one assistant and one hour to prepare a dish using a bag of mystery ingredients.
Four judges will decide the winner.
Application forms are available from the council's environmental health department on 01295 221618 or can be downloaded from www.cherwell-dc.gov.uk
The event is part of the council's push to ensure food safety in restaurants and other places where food is prepared, and participation in the competition will include an inspection of each entrant's kitchen.
Each chef will also get a free guide to a food safety management system.
