A Normandy veteran has died, aged 85, after an illness.
Reginald Goodhall, of Woodfield Road, Bicester, went to the commemorations on the beaches on northern France last year and had been several times before. But he was too ill to go this year.
A lorry driver in the Service Corps, he landed on the beaches the day after D-Day in the follow-up to the invasion and saw service in France, Belgium and Holland.
Born in Bicester, Mr Goodhall became a hairdresser after leaving school for Reg Clifdon in North Street, Bicester.
After the war he returned to the salon for about 30 years, making many friends. In his 60s he worked at Valor Bruce and later at the William Barrett furniture factory, both in Bicester, retiring when he was 70.
This year he received an award from the Royal British Legion for five years as a Poppy appeal collector. He is survived by his daughter.
