Thame United striker Jon Gardner has declared himself fit for the forthcoming Southern League Division 1 West campaign which begins at home to Sutton Coldfield.

He missed much of last season with a foot injury, but is now raring to go.

Manager Mark West said: "It's good to have him back again. He always does well for us.

"He always pops up in the box at the right moment."

West has brought in a number of new players to cope with the loss of his captain James Saulsbury, Andy Williams, Mark Jones and Alex Stewart.

They include Mickey Channon, son of ex-England and Southampton striker Mick, former Chelsea and Wycombe youngster Mark Wiltshire, and centre half Matt Ansell who was at West Ham as a youngster.

West added: "I think after ten games I'll have a better idea of what we can do this season, but I am concerned that goals could be a problem for us."

Thame are hoping to give a debut to new signing Nick Stewart who has joined from Premier League side Bedford Town, if they can register him in time.
