Banbury Utd 2, Stamford 2: Banbury United are still searching for their first Southern League win of the season after throwing away a 2-0 lead in the final seven minutes against Stamford last night.

Things had looked so good for Kevin Brock's men after Howard Forinton and George Redknap had put the home side two goals to the good with the game entering the closing stages.

But the visitors netted in the 83rd and 87th minutes to grab a draw.

Forinton fired Banbury ahead in the 35th minute with a superb 25-yard shot.

But Brock's side were grateful to keeper Simon Tricker for keeping them in the game with three great first-half saves as they gave the ball away too freely.

However, Redknap doubled the lead with 14 minutes remaining, swooping to head in a Paul Eldridge free kick and seemingly hand Banbury their first three points of the season.

But Stamford hit back through Glenn Thompson and Gareth Pritchard late on to grab a draw.

Banbury Utd: Tricker, Fuller, Sullivan, Allen, Blossom, Brandish, Eldridge, Stanbridge (Simms 84), Forinton, Redknap, Potter (Jackson 72).
