One of the surprise acts at this weekend's Reading Festival will be Boston Celtic Punk crew Dropkick Murphys.

Fortunately you don't have to spend the next couple of days surrounded by over-enthusiastic kids slinging around over-priced lager to be able to see them.

In an impeccable piece of judgement and timing the band will be playing a special show here in Oxford between the Reading and Leeds festival dates.

The show, at the Zodiac tomorrow, will see the lads displaying that uncompromising spirit and matchless energy which has won them so many admirers for their powerful Blackout album.

Rooted in the sounds of The Clash, The Pogues, AC/DC and Stiff Little Fingers, the Murphys mix fast punk rock with bag-pipes, quilts, Guinness and Irish Folk.

You may not have heard of them yet, but their relentless touring schedule has ensured a huge groundswell of support wherever they play. The 'craic', as they say, will be flowing!

Check out Walk Away which takes to task a father who abandons his family, the superb, bagpipe doused blue collar homage Worker's Song, and the hard charging, chant-along Gonna Be A Blackout Tonight.

Doors open at 7pm and the show is open to ages 14 and over. Tickets are £12.50 in advance.
