Henley must win the Division 1 title all over again this weekend, after being docked points by the league.

The Oxfordshire side thought they had clinched the championship last weekend by thrashing nearest rivals Slough.

But the league's decision to penalise Henley 25 points for sledging in an ill-tempered recent game with Radlett means that second-placed Slough can theoretically still win the division.

Henley now lead by 40 points with two games remaining.

They require at least 11 points from tomorrow's trip to Reading to make sure of the title. England Under 15 batsman Daniel Housego comes into the Henley side.

Henley chairman Danny Hall accepted that the league needed to be firm to stamp out bad behaviour.

But he felt his club had been unfairly punished, and are consider appealing.

"We've got seven days to appeal, and we will certainly be discussing whether to do so," said Hall.

"It seems a harsh sentence for what was just a bit of sledging. I think we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"The league have, I believe, been looking for someone to make an example of - and it happens to be us."

The case was heard at a disciplinary meeting at High Wycombe on Wednesday.

Both clubs have been deducted 25 points for this year and 15 for next year.

The clubs were each fined £100.

Henley skipper Mike Hilditch and Radlett's Jim Chaudry have both been banned for eight matches.

The league's decision virtually condemns Radlett to relegation.

With two matches left, they are now 41 points from safety.

Hall added: "You have to remember that we were reacting to severe provocation from Radlett.

"We managed to keep our cool for three and a half hours, but we finally reacted.

"We just do not have a problem with this sort of thing. We were top of the disciplinary table last year."

Earlier this season, Banbury's Craig Haupt was suspended for two games after raising his bat to Radlett wicket-keeper David Hanson.

Haupt spoke out against the ban at the time, claiming that he had been severely provoked by Hanson, who escaped punishment for his part in the clash.

But Haupt and Banbury can get their revenge tomorrow.

They can send Radlett down when the two sides meet at White Post Road.

Oxford make one change for the visit of Basingstoke.

Russell Adams replaces former Oxfordshire all-rounder Stewart Laudat, who is unavailable for two weeks.

Relegation-threatened Aston Rowant are away to Division 2 West leaders Tring Park.

Alex Halliday is unavailable, so Lee Lewis comes in.

Thame are unchanged for their trip to bottom side Wokingham.
