Campaigners calling for the closure of a detention centre have urged local office workers to join their fight against plans to house more than 100 extra immigrants.
Employees leaving the Oxford Spires Business Park, Langford Lane, Kidlington, were yesterday given leaflets encouraging them to write to Cherwell District Council objecting to the proposed expansion of nearby Campsfield House immigration removal centre.
They were given the leaflets by white-coated lollipop men and women holding 'Stop Detention' signs.
The event was staged by the Campaign to Close Campsfield group, which is trying to drum up support before the district council discusses the Home Office application next Thursday
