We can all identify gardens which are an utter disgrace.
Some people, of course, keep their patches in beautiful shape and win prizes every year in the various In Bloom competitions.
But there are many who couldn't give a damn.
Now the authorities are catching up with those who use their gardens as a dump for cars, furniture and other rubbish.
Oxford City Council is threatening action against one family who refuse to tidy up - and is warning others they face similar sanctions.
In many cases, there is no excuse for such antisocial behaviour. It is downright laziness.
Not only are poorly-maintained gardens an eyesore, but they pose a health hazard, attracting rats and other vermin to the area.
The council clampdown on the dirty brigade deserves everyone's full support.
