Dunstable Tn 1, Banbury Utd 2: Despite being forced to make four changes, Banbury pulled of a notable victory in Saturday's Premier Division clash at Dunstable.

Although the main alterations were in the visitors' defence, Dunstable were still unable to penetrate United's rearguard until the dying minutes.

In the greasy conditions, Banbury edged things early on, and they went ahead in the 32nd minute.

The home side failed to clear the ball following a goalmouth melee.

And when Chris Potter collected the ball, just inside the penalty area, he had plenty of time to shoot home, just inside a post, with home keeper Paul Taylor wrong- footed.

Banbury's makeshift defence played magnificently for the last ten minutes of the first half as Dunstable battled to get back on terms.

However, keeper Simon Tricker never had much to do as the home side's attacking aspirations failed before they could mount any threat.

The second half was much the same as the first, with United snuffing out Dunstable's attack.

But Banbury also found it difficult to force their way forward, and a dour struggle ensued.

Making the most of what chances did come their way, Banbury made the game safe in the 80th minute.

Potter won the ball in his own half, and set off towards goal, leaving the Dunstable defence in his wake.

He rounded Taylor, before firing powerfully home from just inside the penalty area, for a great solo goal.

Dunstable pulled a goal back in the 88th minute when, following a corner, Stewart Strange smashed the ball into the roof of the net from close in, after a failed clearance.
