Sutton Coldfield Tn 1, Oxford City 2: Two goals by Mark Simms got Oxford City back to winning ways - and relieved the pressure on manager Andy Sinnott - in their Division 1 West clash at Sutton Coldfield on Saturday.

Putting their dismal home form behind them, City throroughly deserved this success, and if they had taken their chances, would have sewn up the result by half-time.

The visitors opened the scoring after eight minutes. Following a free kick, Colin Simpson laid the ball neatly off for Simms, who made no mistake in netting.

City could have gone further ahead.

Moments later, Andy Ballard's lob fell the wrong side of a post with the keeper out of position, and then Simms slipped the ball past Sutton keeper Justin Bray, but just wide.

Gradually the home side got more into the game, but rarely threatened City's goal.

They came nearest to equalising when City keeper Lee Farrow got a hand to Darren Massingham's effort.

Three minutes before the interval, the visitors went 2-0 up. Chris Harper's shot was parried by Bray, but Simms followed up to score.

Having made several changes to the side, City had a more refreshing look about them and might have added to the score.

Harper crossed to Ballard, but his close-range effort was blocked by Bray, who had made several important saves to deny City.

Omar Takriti, who had an excellent game for the visitors, headed Richard Ball's goalbound shot off the line.

Sutton eventually pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute when David Burke's cross was parried by Farrow to Dean Perrow, who fired home the loose ball.
