Brian Lemke joined an elite nband of players who have won both the summer and winter titles when he lifted the summer singles crown at the Association's 78th finals night at Rover Social Club.

He now joins an elite band of players who have won both the summer and winter singles titles.

The last time the College Oak player was in the summer final he lost to Ollie Varney.

But there was to be no such disappointment this time as he beat the Cavalier's Richard Reveley 2-0 to become the singles champion.

Varney added another trophy to his collection when he linked up with Railway Social Club A teammate Steve Foster to land the men's pairs title after beating Cowley Community Centre's Pete Hall and Jon Jukes, with Varney getting the vital winning double.

The biggest shock came in the men's seven-a-side final as Section 2 champions Nuffield Arms B crushed Premier runners-up Cowley Community Centre C 4-0.

Caroline Jeffs (Grove House Social Club) made it third time lucky when she fought back to defeat Julie Cole of Cumnor Cricket Club, 2-1 in the ladies' singles final.

Cole took the first leg with some fine throwing, but Jeffs, who had been beaten in her two previous final appearances, hit back to take the second.

And in an exciting third leg, Jeffs built up a good lead and held off a strong challenge from Cole, before getting the vital double to wrap up victory.

Karen Hutton hit a 180 as she teamed up with Cowley Comuunity Centre's Pat Ireson to lift the ladies' pairs contest against Blackbird Bar's Christine and Claudia Thompson.

The Thompsons took the first leg, only for their rivals to level at 1-1. The third leg saw the Thompsons open up with a 100 each. But Hutton then hit a magical 180, followed by a 123 from Ireson.

The match was neck-and-neck right to the finish and the Cowley side triumphed when Hutton hit the vital double to clinch victory.

Cowley Community Centre A won the Margaret Davies Memorial Cup (seven-a-side) with a 4-0 win over Blackbird Bar to complete the Premier League and cup double.

The trophies were presented by Greene King's Oxford regional manager, Dominic Gooder.

The winter league starts tonight for men, and tomorrow for ladies. All players must be registered and cards must not be altered.
