Feel like a big night on the town tonight, but can't face the prospect of heading into the centre of Oxford?

Need a night of clubbing, but cringe at the prospect of dealing with over zealous bouncers, and the fear of being turned away at the door because they don't like the cut of your jib?

Salvation is at hand in the shape of an old Oxford institution, that deserves to be rediscovered.

Boogie Basement is one of the coolest club nights in town and is blissfully free of the twin curse of aggressive drunks and strutting poseurs.

Put simply, it is a stripped-down fest of funk where groove reigns - all set in the ever-so-slightly grungy depths of the Zodiac.

If you crave banging tunes or chart hits you'd best stay on George Street, however. This place is all about retro-cool, soul, funk and disco, where loved-up punters wave their arms not to cheesy house, but James Brown.

Get on up! You owe it to yourself!

Boogie Basement takes place every Friday. Doors open at 10.30pm. Entry is £5.
