Mail room porters who staged a walk-out at an Oxford hospital have returned to work after managers pledged to listen to their concerns.
About 10 workers at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington took unofficial action when they were told they would no longer be allowed to do overtime.
As well as claiming the move would cause a backlog in post at the JR, the porters said they relied on extra hours to supplement their £212 weekly wages. No-one from the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust was available to comment.
They had threatened to shun their jobs for 24 hours after leaving at 10am on Tuesday, but returned three hours later when managers promised to hold a meeting with union representatives.
Although discussions took place on the same day, the porters are now waiting for a response.
No-one from the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, which oversees the JR, was available to comment.
