Ramon Diaz could be about to make former QPR winger Doudou his first signing at Oxford United.

DoudouThe 24-year-old has been training with the U's this week, but will not be in the squad to play against either Wycombe on Saturday or Bury on Monday.

Diaz is known to be a fan of the diminutive winger, but United secretary Mick Brown confirmed last night that he has not officially registered Douduo as an Oxford player.

"I have been in contact with the Football Assoc- iation to see if I have to get international clearance for him (Doudou), because I believe he has been in Scotland," Brown said.

"Obviously everybody at the FA is very busy trying to sort everything out, and so I have had to fax over a number of questions for them to answer.

"But he would not be in the squad for either of these two matches as players have to be registered by 12.00 on Friday to play."

Douduo, full name Douduo Ebeu Mbombo, was born in Kinshasha, Zaire and started his football career at Monaco as a 20-year-old.

He was then involved in one of football's most extraordinary transfers when signing for Queens Park Rangers in August 2001.

Rangers were in administration and so could not sign any new players.

But two supporters came to the club's rescue by offering to pay the wages of two new signings, Doudou and Daniel Shittu.

Douduo then spent some time in the United States and went on trial to Oldham, before signing for Farnborough Town last season to try and gain match fitness.

Diaz said after the Kidderminster game that he needs 'four or five' new faces in as soon as possible, and Doudou seems to fit the bill.
