Jon Lambden, a former member of the Saracens coaching staff, has been appointed Henley's new director of rugby.

Lambden takes over this role this month from Rob Heginbotham and will succeed Nigel Dudding as head coach in May.

Doug Ash, president of the struggling National League 1 club, said: "We are confident that Jon's wealth of experience at Premier level as well as in the development of young players will do much to keep Henley a force in the National Leagues."

Lambden said: " I will give Nigel Dudding every assistance in the Hawks' fight to stave off relegation this season."

Since the 2002-03, season Lambden has been involved in many aspects of coaching with Saracens

In 2004 he was skills coach for the 1st XV and also oversaw the development of the younger full-time professionals.

Before that, he was employed in similar roles with London Wasps from the time the game went professional in 1995.

Lambden, who is a RFU level four coach, played for Wasps and was also a member of Northampton from1984-86.
