It was standing room only at Dorchester Abbey today (Apr 29) when more than 500 people attended the funeral of Oxford City Football Club player Robin Antonowicz.

The popular player, pictured left, died five days after his car hit a tree on the B4009 at Little Stoek, near Wallingford, on April 15.

Family, friends and sports colleagues carried the coffin -- draped in the football club's colours -- into the abbey for the service, which was conducted by the Rev Hedley Feast, the football club's chaplain.

Mourners packed the nave of the abbey, the choir stalls and the side chapels.

Mr Antonowicz, 23, who lived in Goring, worked as a fitness instructor at the Hightone Health and Fitness Centre, in Wallingford. Colleagues and customers from the centre attended the funeral.

A private cremation was held after the service.

Donations made in memory of Mr Antonowicz will go to two charities, Keen -- Kids Enjoy Exercise Now -- which helps special needs children, and the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals.
