Staff at six south Oxfordshire businesses are being urged to travel to work in a more environmentally friendly way.
April 26 is Green Travel to Work Day, which aims to improve the environment and people's health by encouraging workers to use public transport, bicycles or foot power.
The Green Transport Group, which is organising the day, is made up of representatives from South Oxfordshire District Council, HR Wallingford, the Environment Agency, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the British Geological Survey and CAB International.
The group meets regularly to identify ways of promoting green travel for a combined workforce of 1,500 staff.
A car-share scheme was one of the first schemes to be offered. Future plans include improving bus services and cycleways in the area.
The number of car miles saved on the day will be used to calculate how much carbon dioxide emission has been prevented. The gas is one of the main ones responsible for climate change.
