I was astonished to read that Claire Rayner believes the Liberal Democrats are the only party to show compassion to older people (Oxford Mail, April 16).
Many old people still remember the meeting of Oxfordshire County Council's social services committee when every Liberal Democrat councillor voted for the closure of Oseney Court old people's home in Botley Road, Oxford, and the compulsory removal of its elderly residents to various parts of Oxfordshire.
So much for Liberal Democrat compassion.
