OCA League: Tetsworth's Hiriam Shallow was the star of the show on the opening day of the Division 1 programme as he hammered a terrific 165 in his side's 171-run victory over Garsington.

Shallow's incredible knock included ten sixes, one of them breaking tiles on the pavilion roof as Tetsworth rattled up 282-8 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Garsington were never in the hunt, stumbling to 111 all out, Steve Prew hitting 56.

Rudy Rock (4-34) and Rommell Foster (3-9) ensured a winning start for Tetsworth.

Oxford Caribbean's title defence got off to a disappointing start as they slipped to a 45-run defeat at Great Horwood.

Neil Taylor was the key man with bat and ball for Horwood, scoring 37 not out in his side's 165-6, then taking 3-19 as Caribbean were rolled over for just 120 in reply.

New boys Twyford started life in the top flight with a four-wicket win against Freeland.

Sam Symonds (40) was the only bright point in Freeland's disappointing total of 132 all out, Inam ul-Haq taking 4-14.

Pakistani ace Haroon Malik (36no) then laid the foundations for Twyford's victory.

Westbury opened up with a 36-run win over Witney Swifts in a high-scoring affair.

James Pym (70) and Richard Tredwell (54) helped Westbury up to 260-7, then Steve Curley took 5-53 as Swifts were restricted to 224-9.

There was a thrilling start to the season at Charlbury in Division 2, where the home side tied with Shrivenham off the last ball of the match.

Charlbury managed only 129 all out, but with Shrivenham on 129-9 and one ball remaining, a run-out meant the match ended with the scores level.

Watlington began life in a new division with a two-wicket win at home to Eynsham.

Steve Laudat (47) and Olly Willans (40) helped Eynsham to 177-8 from their 45 overs, but Nick Adby (39) steered Watlington to victory.

Brill edged out Faringdon by the same margin.

Faringdon were dismissed for 138, Andy Liddiard top-scoring with 36, but an excellent 85 not out from Tanveer Nadeem ensured Brill the victory.

In Division 3, Stonesfield romped to a ten-wicket triumph at Langford.

After bowling their hosts out for 106, Rob Garrett (61no) and Craig Richards (38no) saw Stonesfield home.

Julian Russ claimed 5-26 as West Witney began with a seven-wicket demolition of Combe.

Combe were dismissed for just 101, then Stuart Sutcliffe (44no) and Patrick Smith (41no) helped Witney to the target.

Clifton Hampden's first game in Division 4 was a successful one as they triumphed at home to East & West Hendred by four wickets.

Hendred posted 171-9, Steve Sheppard top-scoring with 58.

But a fine knock from Malcolm Cox-Rogers (50no) was the key to Clifton's victory.

Australian Brad Lind smashed 108 as Wootton & Boars Hill beat Buckland by 75 runs in Division 5.

Highest scorers of the day were Wantage in Division 7. They rattled up 301-7 in their 244-run victory over Horley 2nd, Wayne Harvey hitting a superb unbeaten 115.

Alan Carter returned figures of 6-7 for Shrivenham 2nd, but still finished on the losing side as East Oxford 2nd won by 23 runs. Division 1
