YOUNG people will put on their bright dresses and daring bow ties to transport audiences back to the 80s.

From tonight until Sunday, Abdabs will perform the musical Back to the 80s.

The comedy will be wowing audiences at the Corn Exchange, in Market Square, Witney.

Abdabs principal director Debbie Tuffs said: “This musical is exciting and full of high energy and dance, bringing back memories such as memorising Rubik’s Cube, rollerskating, and the old Spectrum computer.

“If you’re a 1980s wild child, and/or you enjoy musicals, this is not to be missed.”

Hits performed by the young cast will include Footloose, Man in the Mirror, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Kids in America, Shot through the Heart and Total Eclipse of the Heart.

The stars of the show are Ashley Reynolds, who plays Michael Feldman, James Hoyland, aka Corey Palmer, and Hazel Coaley, who plays Tiffany Houston.

Thirty-five young people, aged between 12 and 21, are part of the cast.

Ms Tuffs said: “They have all been working like little troopers. They have been doing this in preparation since September last year. It has been hours of choreography time, hours of music time to learn the songs and be able to sing them in a 1980s style, as opposed to today’s style.

“There is an awful lot of work that has gone on and they are all majorly excited about it.”

She added: “We have got children from all walks of life.

“As a group they sound brilliant, they come along and they enjoy it.

“The children love Abdabs as it is one big family and they can be who they want to be.

“People need to come along to support them and see what hard work they have put into it.”

Performances start at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Saturday at 2pm. The Sunday show will start at 4.30pm.

Tickets can be bought from Rapture, in the Woolgate Centre, or by emailing enquiries@abdabs-yt.co.uk.

Tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £5 for concessions and £4 for children under 16. Prizes will be handed out for the best 1980s’ outfit in the audience.
