CHILDREN helped our feathered friends by building bird feeders from old plant pots and string.
Members of Barracks Lane Community Garden organised the Family Gardening Day for about 65 mums, dads and children on Saturday to look at ways they could attract wildlife into the city’s gardens. They made bird feeders to hang from trees and packed them full of different types of seeds to make sure sparrows and starlings do not go hungry.
Trustee Annie Davy said: “It’s nice to make them because it gets conversation going about birds and what birds people see in their gardens. At this time of year feed can be in short supply for birds, especially after a cold winter.”
