Although they can be used as a table to place your coffee, burger full of red sauce, and other foods, the seats in Cornmarket should be lost as you cannot sit on them.

I expect most people who looked at your interesting front page photo (Oxford Mail, February 15), will probably think the same.

The very unfriendly seats should be removed and replaced with seats which you can sit on.

What a waste of space they are.

I remember when Oxford used to look great, and your ‘then and now’ picture brought back great memories.

We had Hepworths tailors, where you could go and get a suit made to measure; Lyons tea shop; the old Woolworth’s, and pavements and shops full of happy shoppers.

There was Crawford’s cafeteria, Millets downstairs’ coffee shop, and 50 shilling tailors.

We all know that you do have to see change, but come on – look at it now.

I know the Oxford Mail was talking about ‘using or losing’ the shops – but why not get on with losing the unfriendly table top seats first? I am not the only person to think this.
