I feel I must write regarding the council’s latest misguided use of power over speed limits (Oxford Mail, February 9).
These councillors are paid by public funds and should be taking more notice of the public.
Due to poor planning and lack of suitable funding, we are just happy to achieve the national speed limit – as most journeys take much longer than they should.
As for the groups represented in Your View panel, they all have an axe to grind. But the views of most are not fairly represented as, on most roads, pedestrians are well catered for and in lots of locations cyclists have cycle lanes but many refuse to use them.
This matter should be put before the public to gain a more representative view.
Also, good for the police for making their views known. They are experts in their field and maybe we should listen.
