Oxford University said it had no plans to produce a perfume after it was reported perfumers were working with the promotional arm of the university, Oxford Limited.

A university spokesman said: “The University of Oxford has absolutely no plans to produce a perfume.

“All products created by Oxford Limited are designed to be relevant to the history and accomplishments of the University of Oxford, with, for example, products which might feature patterns derived from content found in the university’s archives and museums.

“We do not feel that a product such as perfume would be relevant.”
