HIS unique style of Irish crooning has won him fans around the globe...although few will be as dedicated as these three.

When Daniel O’Donnell arrives in Oxford in April, George Graham, 65, Denise Graham, 67, and Hilary Parker, 62, are determined to have front-row seats.

So, the three friends — who have seen O’Donnell 30 times in the past decade — have set up camp outside the New Theatre to make sure they are first through the door on Saturday morning when tickets for his show go on sale.

Armed with sleeping bags, warm clothes and flasks, they will brave 52 hours of cold, as well as experiencing George Street’s Friday night revellers.

Mr and Mrs Graham left their Salisbury home at 3am yesterday and arrived at 5am. Mrs Graham said: “We are all huge fans of Daniel and we follow him all over the country.

“He is such a lovely man who always takes time to meet his fans. We have met him a few times and I’m sure he will remember us.

“We have also camped out in Bournemouth and Portsmouth and it is like an adventure for us.

“There is a 90-minute window on Saturday morning between the box office opening and the telephone lines starting, so we are guaranteed the seats we want.”

To make sure they don’t get too cold, the trio have come well prepared.

Each has two sleeping bags, a blanket, two layers of clothing, three pairs of socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and warm coats. They have brought camping chairs to sit on.

The trio treat themselves to breakfast in nearby Debenhams and in the evenings dine on fish and chips from takeaways in the area.

Passers-by are generally friendly, they said, despite some presuming they are homeless or protesting against something.

Mr Graham said: “We are very warm and comfortable.

“We have two sleeping bags each and plenty of food and warm drinks. There are plenty of shops around here if we need anything.

“I know it can get quite busy around here, especially on Friday nights, although we are quite looking forward to seeing it.”

Mrs Parker, from Banbury, said O’Donnell’s biggest appeal was his music.

She said: “People love his songs. They are lovely tunes which you can sing along to.

“No matter how many times you see him, he always gets better.”

O’Donnell will be appearing with guest singer Mary Duff on April 29-30 – and his three loyal fans will be there for both (each spending £69 in total).
