I live on the edge of the Eastern Bypass, which my dog-walker friends call ‘muck alley’.

It is bad enough on the cycle track/footpath side of the road, but the other side is even worse.

Everyone seems to drop their rubbish while stopped at the traffic lights – with Macdonalds wrappers and cartons at the Homebase lights, and Tesco wrappers and Burger King cartons at the Rose Hill roundabout.

Why do people do it?

Are their homes in the same state of chaos? Are they also responsible for overflowing wheelie bins and boxes?

The worst insult I have experienced is being almost hit by a flying dirty nappy (not even wrapped in a nappy bag) from a fast-moving car on the main road.

People on Asbos or community service could clear up all this rubbish in a couple of days.

Maybe there is a health and safety issue here?

We need to hurry up though. Once the leaves start sprouting, we shall only see half the mess.

Meanwhile, the people who care will be doing a little pick on March 6.

If you care enough, please join us and make your area a nice place in which to live.
