THE four female mayors of Didcot, Wallingford, Thame and Henley filled the Cornerstone arts centre for a gala concert.

For the first time, the four civic leaders clubbed together to put on a programme of music and theatre highlighting the best the towns have to offer to raise money for their chosen charities.

Didcot Community Gospel Choir, above, made its debut public appearance, while a group of actors and musicians from Wallingford developed a 20-minute show revealing the history of the town. Saturday’s line-up was completed by Henley Choral Society and Thame Youth Theatre, before the four mayors came on stage to Here Come The Girls to perform a unique take on We Did It Our Way.

Didcot Mayor Margaret Turner said: “It was a complete sell-out.

“They had people coming up in the day trying to get tickets.

“Seeing the place full was incredible. I really hope we have started a tradition.”

The takings will be split between the Charles ‘Berti’ Bertioli Staying Alive Foundation (Henley), Style Acre (Wallingford), Didcot Community Hospital, Oxford’s Helen and Douglas House, and Thame Young Carers.
