Oxford’s Anglo-Arab duo Tariq Beshir and Giles Lewin are kicking up a storm with their new band Maqam. Egyptian oud-player Tarik is a key member of East/West fusionists Brickwork Lizards while fiddler Giles is well known for his work with the Carnival Band, the Dufay Collective and Bellowhead. They will be playing at Oxford Town Hall tomorrow (Tuesday January 26) at 2pm to support an exhibition highlighting the plight of the children of Gaza.The display includes photographs and drawings from the children of Gaza themelves responding to the bombardment. The exhibtition, Children of Gaza Under Fire runs in the Town Hall Gallery until Sunday, January 31.
