WITH further bad weather forecast, I rang the county council highways department to ask if, and when, the yellow salt boxes at the side of the roads were going to be refilled?
They said they did not know. Though, when I pushed them further, they said the problem was that people kept stealing salt from the roadside.
I then asked what anyone would steal salt for other than to salt the roads – which the council had failed to do.
The council employee said they would put in a request in for the boxes in Horspath to be refilled.
I fully accept some people will steal anything, but to take salt to spread on the roads is not exactly what I would call theft – or does someone out there know differently?
