Police today appealed for information after three burglaries in the Wantage area.

Between 10am on Friday and 3.30pm on Saturday, burglars broke into a house in Kennet Close and stole Christmas presents, including electrical items.

A house in Springfield Road was also burgled between 6pm on Friday and 11.20am on Saturday. A camera and a PlayStation were among items stolen.

At some point between 5.30pm and 11.15pm on Friday, burglars broke into a house in Reynolds Way and stole some chocolate oranges, boxes of chocolates and some fun-size bags of chocolates.

Det Con Chris Leech said: “This is a particularly callous and selfish act which has ruined Christmas for three families.

“The thief has stolen a whole family’s Christmas presents, burgled another house stealing their belongings and stolen chocolate from a third house.

"I believe that these burglaries could be linked and I would like to appeal for anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact me and also ask the thief to think about what they have done, especially at this time of year, and return the presents to the family."

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Det Con Leech at Abingdon police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
