Shoppers were entertained by hundreds of singers as 45 choirs and singing groups gave performances across Oxford city centre.
Sing Christmas was part of Oxford City Council’s Christmas in Oxford celebrations and aimed to unite communities by inviting them to perform carols in public.
Choirs taking part on Saturday included the 80-strong Oxford City Singers and the Blackbird Leys Choir. The Blackbird Leys Choir was formed in 2006 to take part in the Channel 5 series The Singing Estate and earlier this year performed in Oxford’s Dutch twin city of Leiden.
The choir and a number of other groups performed in Bonn Square before a carol concert was staged in Wellington Square.
Sing Christmas coordinator Sarah Mayhew said: “There were 45 different singing groups from across Oxfordshire taking part.
“Some groups have been together for a long time but others got together just for this performance.”
