NEW measures to prevent buses getting stuck in Wolvercote have been welcomed by residents.

Drivers parking at a number of different locations have temporarily halted the journeys of the Oxford Bus Company’s City6 service which links the village with Oxford city centre.

Now Oxfordshire County Council has agreed to introduce new road markings at six different locations to keep the route clear for buses – at Wolvercote Primary School bus stop, First Turn railway bridge, Mere Road bus stop, Milway Close bus stop, and the junction of Rosamund Road and Godstow Road.

Wolvercote city councillor Mike Gotch said the new measures costing £2,000 would make a huge difference to villagers.

He added: “The vast majority of residents are backing these new road markings because they really appreciate the bus service.

“There are plenty of parking spaces around the village in different side roads and drivers will have to get used to the changes.”
