REGARDING Oxfordshire County Council cost-cutting measures.

Some of the proposed cuts in services would not be necessary if money had not been wasted on flashing signs at the entrance to Sandford and at the Forest Hill layby, telling passing motorist to use the park and rides and other fairly obvious statements. These signs distract motorists who turn to read them and are yet another blot on the landscape. Also the vast amount of money spent on 20 mph signs. I have yet to see many people keeping to the 20mph limit. What did these cost us, the council tax payer?

I wonder how many people think the money could have been better spent.

It is the young, elderly or services that affect people’s quality of life that are always the first to be cut.

Maybe the councillors should take a cut in their allowances, not just not have an increase. We, as residents of Oxfordshire, will have to make cuts in spending to pay what is bound to be an increase in council tax.
