TWO primary school pupils got an insight into working life when they took on the role of their headteacher for a day.
Connor Coates, 11, and ten-year-old Attiya Kausar’s first job of the day was to meet parents as they brought pupils to Dashwood Community School in Merton Street, Banbury.
The pupils then handed out stickers to pupils who had worked well and discussed the lunch menu with the school cook.
Real headteacher Vicki McLean said: “This was a day when the country’s 11 million children were encouraged to get an early insight into the adult world.
“It meant I could take it easy for the day, knowing that Attiya and Connor would be circulating around the classrooms, looking over the weekly newsletter and taking charge of a special assembly for pupils who were back from an activity week.”
Afterwards Connor said: “It was very, very busy.
“What is important for headteachers is to stay calm and confident. I hope I proved I can do that.”
Attiya added: “Being a headteacher is a very interesting job, but there are a lot of difficult situations to deal with.”
