FOUR members of St John Ambulance carried a stretcher 20 miles in 1983 to raise money for equipment.
They were Caroline McNally, 17, of St Paul’s Crescent, Botley; Vanessa Miller, 18, of Westminster Way, Botley; Nick Parker, 19, of Botley Road, Oxford; and Robert Lloyd, 21, of Pinnocks Way, Botley.
Their route took them from Botley to Abingdon, Wootton and Cumnor and back to their starting point.
The money was need for a dummy on which members of the St John Ambulance’s West Oxford division could practise resuscitation.
The four walkers had set themselves a target of £500.
Did they achieve it?
