VANDALS who caused an estimated £4,000 of damage by covering two cars in paint and eggs have been branded “mindless”.

Ahad Ghanbary, 47, woke up on Monday to find his Range Rover and Audi had been targeted by yobs sometime during the night.

Mr Ghanbary, who works for a patent agency in Cassington, said he no longer feels his home in Hardwick Avenue, Kidlington, is secure.

He said: “I have lived here for nine years and I thought this was a safe and quiet street to live in.

“There are lots of families living around here and it seems after talking to neighbours that crime is very rare around here, and very low level.

“But it seems this was a deliberate attack, because I live at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and you can’t just stumble on my house. You have to come looking for it.

“This has left me feeling pretty shaken up. I’m not that worried about the damage, because it is only monetary and it can be sorted. But it shows there are now mindless criminals operating in supposedly quiet areas as well.”

The limited-edition Range Rover Westminster, which was worth £63,000 when new, suffered the brunt of the damage.

The Audi Cabriolet was worth about £26,000 when new.

Mr Ghanbary said he believed the yobs chose eggs and paint to cause the “maximum amount of damage”.

He said: “The paint obviously destroys the paint work and is impossible to get off.

“Eggs are often thrown by young people at Halloween because they are very sticky and messy and extremely difficult to wash off.

“This type of pointless vandalism is getting more and more common. This has definitely affected the way I feel about Oxford and where I live, which is a real shame.”
