Police today appealed for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Oxford.

At about 3am last Thursday, a 21-year-old man and his 18-year-old friend had left Que Passa and were walking along New Road, when they were approached by six men.

The men demanded that the 21-year-old hand over his wallet and after he refused, both men were assaulted.

Five of the offenders were white and one was black. They were about 6ft and aged in their early twenties. They walked off in the direction of Bonn Square.

Det Sgt Matt Jarman said: “I appeal to anyone who was in this area of town in the early hours of Thursday morning and saw an altercation near to please contact police.”

Anyone with information that could assist police enquiries is urged to contact Det Con Jarman at Oxford police station via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 50 5505.
