This was Abingdon Youth's first game in 3 weeks and it showed for the first 15 minutes Hinksey didn’t let Abingdon get the ball.

After a goal mouth scramble the ball was charged down by a Hinksey player and the ball fell to Sam Eshiwani who floated a superb ball into the back of the net from outside the box.

This sparked Abingdon into life as this is the first time this season they have gone one down so early. Max Shepherd had a great chance but went off injured, so Abingdon had to reshuffle. George Woodley sent James Pearce-Shaw clear and he shot past the advancing Hinksey Keeper to make it one all.

The game ebbed and flowed from end to end, then George Woodley chipped the ball over the Hinksey defence for James Pearce-Shaw to coolly fire past the Hinksey keeper. Abingdon were ecstatic and still thinking of the goal when Hinksey kicked off and scored a well worked goal by Jason Crowder to make it 2 all.

Abingdon were rattled and it took them another 5 minutes before they went ahead after Luke Meehan was brought down in the box. Harry Johnson smashed the penalty to the keeper’s right and the Hinksey keeper made a wonder save but with the power of the shot the ball crept over the line. Half time Hinksey 2-3 Abingdon Youth

Second half was a finger biting account with both Hinksey and Abingdon going close and some good challenges in the midfield. Hinksey were under a lot of pressure in the final 10 minutes with Abingdon hitting the bar and the Hinksey keeper making some good saves.

With a couple of minutes left Abingdon cleared the ball off their line and Daniel Jacob raced down the left wing and put James Pearce-Shaw through to score Abingdon's 4th and to complete his hatrick. Final whistle Hinksey 2-4 Abingdon Youth.

A well fought game between two competitive sides and well reffed.
