TWO people appeared before Oxford magistrates today accused of stealing from three charities, including the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Michael Bailey, 25, and Sabrina Burton, 24, both of Fettiplace Road, in Barton, are jointly charged with five thefts between October 25 and November 9 in the Headington area.
They are thefts of Poppy Appeal collection boxes on October 25, November 2, November 6 and November 9 and a Multiple Sclerosis Society collection box on November 6.
They did not enter pleas to the charges.
Bailey admitted a separate charge of stealing a guitar belonging to the British Heart Foundation on November 7, but did not enter a plea on a charge of possessing a folding pocket knife on the same day.
Burton, who spoke only to confirm her age and address, was granted bail until a hearing at the court on Friday, December 11.
Bailey was remanded in custody until a further hearing at the court next Friday.
