A RICH and poor man’s meal was organised by Burford Council of Churches in 1986 to highlight the differences between the West and the Third World. The luck of the draw decided who got a bowl of soup and a roll and who got a three-course meal.
The next picture was taken in 1980 when the mayor, Richard Cole, took delivery of a mayoral chair, given by the Countryman magazine, based in the town. Mr Cole is seen receiving the chair from editor Crispin Gill.
In 1975, to mark European Architectural Heritage Year, a special exhibition was held at the Tolsey to show, with photographs, plans and written material, what eight properties in High Street were like inside. Roger Warner, left, is seen showing his 16th century courtyard to Tolsey committee members David Ayerst and Dorothy Wise.
