Enterprise, application and initiative, with excellent academic qualifications to prove it — these are the attributes that characterise the young people who are about to receive their A-Level results. The young women leaving Oxford High School after two years of sixth form study are looking forward to leading rewarding, useful and productive lives.

They are not afraid of hard work as their outstanding grades and places at top universities show. They also relish the challenge of organising people and events beyond the limits of the academic curriculum.

This year we held our first Green Fair, an activity entirely conceived, planned and brought to life by members of Year 13. Many extra-curricular activities owe their existence to sixth form organisers.

The regular success of our Young Enterprise companies in the local and regional rounds of the Young Enterprise competition is evidence of the ability to work creatively in a team.

Participation in the creative arts (music, drama, dance and art) and sports provides our senior girls with opportunities to express themselves in ways which bring great personal satisfaction.

The idealism and optimism of our sixth form students is infectious and they are role models for the younger girls in the school.

They are prepared to work hard for future employers and will bring with them enthusiasm, a firm belief in the value of strong human relationships and a sense of service and vocation to their chosen professions.

Many are already well-practised in balancing their work load with family demands and leisure pursuits. They expect a good quality of life during their careers and in return employers will find loyalty, intelligence and creativity.

Many will seek leadership roles but a sense of fulfilment, personal happiness and helping their communities are also high priorities.

We at Oxford High School are very proud of our A-Level leavers
