AN EX-SOLDIER suspected of killing an Abingdon woman told work colleagues he was going home to “deal with a flood” hours before her body was found.
Stewart Shaw, 45, was described as ‘agitated’ by colleagues at Siemens Transportation Systems depot in Southampton.
Colleagues, who have been told by police he died after throwing himself under a train, said he left work at 10.30am on Friday saying ‘I need to go’.
His rucksack with his work ID was found at Winchester station after he was hit by a train at 5.30pm. At 10pm the body of his ex-fiancee Julie Sudlow, 41, a mum-of-four from Berry Croft, was found dead at Mr Shaw’s bungalow in Waterlooville.
A colleague at the Siemens depot, which manufacturers equipment for railways, said: “He was very agitated on Friday morning. Normally he’s a very professional man but he wasn’t himself.”
Mrs Sudlow and Mr Shaw were due to be married on August 3, but the wedding was called off after she alleged he had punched her in the face.
