Two drivers escaped with minor injuries this morning after a lorry crashed through the central reservation of the A34 near Abingdon.
Thames Valley Police said the lorry travelling south went through the central barrier close to the Abingdon North turn-off shortly before 7am this morning.
There were tailbacks stretching several miles in both directions as emergency crews dealt with the aftermath of the collision between the lorry and a van on the northbound carriageway.
David Staines, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said the male drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
He added: “One lane is open in both directions but there are significant tailbacks and drivers are advised to avoid this section of the A34 if they possibly can.
“Our officers will be working with Highways Agency staff today to clear the carriageway and repair the central reservation.”
He added that no-one was arrested following the accident.
Immediately after the crash, the northbound carriageway was completely blocked, but one lane was reopened shortly after 7.30am.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance said one person was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment but his injuries were not life-threatening.
