Modern Portuguese wines have loads of juicy fruit and are very different to the style we used to see some years ago. With the relatively recent emergence of the Douro Valley as a recognised table wine producing area and the use of modern winemaking equipment Portugal is now making some seriously mouth watering wines. Try this selection and see what we mean.

The mixed case offer includes three bottles of each of the following four wines: Quinta do Correio Branco 2006, Dao

Produced using a blend of four classic Dao grape varieties, this wine has flavours of stone fruits and minerals and is an excellent partner to shellfish in particular.

Castello D’Alba Reserva 2006, Douro

Very modern winemaking techniques are used to make this crisp white which has lovely floral flavours of tropical fruit, citrus and mango. A very refreshing wine.

Montinho Sao Miguel 2006, Alentejano

In Alentejano ‘Montinho’ is the name for a small homestead on the top of a hill. The wine itself has wonderfully supple ripe mulberry fruit, along with delightful spicy notes and juicy fruit flavours.

douROSA Tinto 2005, Douro

Made from a mix of top quality Douro grape varieties, this gorgeous wine has flavours of redcurrants, stone fruits and minerals that come from the slate soils of the Douro Valley. Delicious wine.
